My idea behind this painting was that sometimes we can feel all alone in the middle of a crowd and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I think solitude is an extremely positive state of connecting with our inner self. It is a time that we can use for constructive communication and reflection within our self, leading to immense growth. It is a means of enjoying the peace and quiet that comes from within and we can draw strength and courage from it. I have depicted this with the light color figure rising above the crowd and the daily grind which is symbolized by the rough textures and rock like formations on the right side. Solitude is something to strive for, to renew and replenishes our soul, while keeping in mind that our God is always there looking out for us, shown by the benevolent face in the center. I have painted this with acrylic colors, gel mediums, paper, fiber etc.
